Sobering News

March 28, 2011

While talking to my parents the other day, they informed me of a news report they had just read about an accident at Iguazu Falls.  If you remember from this post a couple of weeks ago, we were just in this beautiful part of Argentina exploring this natural wonder.  In fact, a big part of what we did was the focus of this story.

Sadly, one of the boats that journeys up and down the river and close to the waterfalls capsized, killing two Americans and injuring others.  You can read the full story here.  It is hard to describe how we felt when we heard the news, and the best word I could come up with was “sobering”.  It is crazy to think that such a thing happened a short time after we were there, and it could have just as well been us on that boat and subsequently in the news clip.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those who passed away and to those still recovering.  You never know when your time on this Earth will come to an end and events such as this make you cherish that time all the more.  Your prayers for a safe trip for us are always appreciated.

Very sorry to hear about the accident at the falls.
Know that you two are always in our prayers.

Always make wise decisions. There is nothing wrong with falling on the conservative side when deciding on something that might be dangerous. Things can go wrong and typically the services/medical facilities are not quite up to par.

Also, things can turn quickly if there is political turmoil. (Hint, Hint – please read my last email).
